For B.ED & D. El Ed (2018-20)

For B.Ed (2018-20) :

Centralised On-line/Offline Admission to B.Ed under West Bengal University of Teachers Training, Education, Planning and Admission (WBUTTEPA) and D.El Ed under West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) in the session 2018–20 is going on. Rules & Regulations of Online Application for B.Ed. Admission

  1. Medium of instructions: Bengali/ English
  2. The B.Ed. programme shall be of duration of two academic sessions,which can be       completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme.
  3. 20% of the seats for self-financed colleges will be reserved for Deputed teachers of classes VI-XII. Deputed teachers mean the teachers serving as substantive posts.

4. Eligibility:

  • Candidates should be Graduates in a school subject from a recognized university.
  • Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree(General) / or in the Masters Degree in School subjects are eligible to apply.
  • Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with Science and/or Mathematics, with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are also eligible for admission.
    Such candidates are required to enter the marks of B.E/ B. Tech. in the row of Honours Degree. M.E. / M. Tech result (if any) will be entered in the Masters Degree row.
  • Honours Graduates in school subject should enter the Honours marks only in the row of Bachelors degree (Honours).
  • In case of General Graduates, the total marks obtained in general subjects should be entered in the row of Bachelors degree (General).
  • For candidates with less than 50% marks in the honours degree, the total marks of pass and Honours subjects will be considered. If it becomes 50% or more, that score will be entered in Graduation (General) row.
  • For fresh candidates, merit list will be prepared separately for each school subject based on scoring
  • For Deputed Candidates, merit list will be prepared separately for each school subject based on length of service.

5. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/ PWD (Minimum disability 40%) candidates will be as per Govt. Rules. Relaxation of 5% marks will be admissible as per Govt. rules. The Reservation as stated is not applicable for Self-Financed Colleges.

7. Admission procedure for B.Ed. Course (Fresh):

Admission will be on the basis of scores against marks obtained in qualifying examinations and as per norms of University.Maximum Scores against marks for different level of examinations will be as follows:

  • i) Madhyamik/Equivalent Examination 20
  • ii) Higher Secondary Examination 20
  • iii) Graduation (General/Pass) 20
  • iv) Graduation (Honours) 30
  • v) B.E./B.Tech. 30
  • vi) Masters Degree 3

For scoring in HS,the marks obtained in best five subjects excluding Environmental Studies will be considered.

8. Deputed Teachers (as per NCTE norms) from recognized Secondary & Higher Secondary School of West Bengal are eligible to apply.

For Deputed Candidates

Applicants deputed by School must submit an attested copy of M.C. resolution recording the approval of Service in regard to his/her service with the form.Following additional documents are required to be submitted positively on the day of joining the B.Ed. programmes in institutions under the University:

1. Release order from the Headmaster/Headmistress.

2. Attested copy of M.C. resolution with regards to his/her deputation,countersigned by D.I. of Schools (Secondary).

3. Certificate from Competent Authority whether the candidate teaches in Class IX or above.

4. Three copies of passport size photographs of the applicant.

5. A certificate with the following information is to be submitted from the Secretary or Headmaster/Headmistress (where he/she is serving) and counter signed by the D.I. of Schools of the District concerned:

  • Certified that the School is in receipt of aid on full/deficit/lumpsum grant basis or that school in unaided or salary deficit scheme one.
  • Certified that she/he is duly approved teacher.
  • Certified that she/he is being deputed by the school for undergoing two year B.Ed. Courses (2017-2019)

Candidates pursuing any other course in the WBUTTEPA or any other University during 2017-19 academic session are not eligible for admission to the B.Ed. programme for the session 2017-19.Application fee is Rs.600/- for General candidates and Rs.350/- for SC/ST candidates

II. Rules & Regulations of Online Application for D. El. Ed. Admission

The eligible and interested applicants are requested to visit the following websites :

  • The process of online application shall be opened from 06 p.m. of 30-06-2017 to 14-07-2017.
  • The heads of the respective Institutions will submit the verified & authenticated applications (downloaded & printed) to the Board latest by 17-07-2017
  • The Board will approve the Merit Lists between 18-07-2017 & 23-07-2017.
  • The process of admission as per the Approved List should be completed between 24-07-2017 and 26-07-2017.
  • Classes of the new Session must start on and from 27-07-2017.

Eligibility and Reservation

  • 1. Should be an Indian citizen.
  • 2. Should pass the H.S (+2) Examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/Council/University with at least 50% marks in the aggregate. There is, however, a relaxation of 5% marks for the applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PH/Ex-Serviceman categories. Where there is no aggregate marks, 50% / 45% of the total of the best five scores excluding EVS for eligibility will be counted.
  • 3. Should not be above 35 years of age (40 years of age for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PH) as on 01.07.2017. Note 1 : This upper age limit is not applicable for the in-service teachers, appointed before 03.09.2001. Note 2 : Ex-Serviceman candidates shall get the benefit of age relaxation as per rules.
  • 4. Must have studied the language at the Higher Secondary level as a compulsory subject for which medium of instruction he/she will be applying for admission. The second language must be English.
  • 5. Reservation of seats shall be made as per the State Government norms.
  • 6. For Vocational-course-pass applicants:

    • 1. a) 4% (i.e. two out of fifty) of the seats shall be earmarked for applicants coming from the Vocational Stream Course (+2 Level) under any Board/University/Council or its equivalent, regardless of categories
    • 2. b) Such vocational-course-pass applicants must have studied at least two languages including English at the +2-stage.
    • 3. c) Such vocational-course-pass applicants should score at least 50% marks at the +2-stage.
    • 4. d) Such vocational-course-pass applicants, however, shall not be eligible for other seats under any conditions of backwardness or physical disability.

  • 7. Ten (10) percent seats in D.I.E.Ts, Govt./Govt. Sponsored/Govt. Aided Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes will be kept reserved for in-service primary teachers, appointed before 03.09.2001 having 50% or 45% (as the case may be) at the H.S. (+2) Examination, if duly deputed by the competent authority. In case of non-availability of such candidates the seats shall be filled up from among the merit listed candidates in order of merit as per reservation rules.
  • 8. Ten (10) percent of the total intake of a Self-financed Non-Government Institution shall be reserved under ‘Management Quota’. No such reservation will be there in case of a Government/Government Sponsored/Govt. Aided institution. In case of such reservations, admission procedures and other terms and conditions for admission, as prescribed, should also be maintained strictly.
  • 9. Calculation of merit: the name of the examination should be Higher Secondary or as mentioned in the Mark-sheet of other recognized Boards or Councils. The total marks obtained should be the aggregate of the best five including First or Second Language but excluding EVS.

    [For example: A student has passed the Higher Secondary Examination with following scores:

    • 1st Language – 60
    • 2nd Language – 81
    • Political Science – 68
    • Geography – 82
    • History – 62
    • Philosophy (Optional Elective) – 74
    • EVS – 88

Now the calculation of percentage shall be made on the basis of the best five scores, e.g. {(82+81+74+68+62)/5} = 367/5 = 73.4%

Notable: The marks of EVS has not been taken for calculation of percentage.

Note: For determination of minimum eligibility the Grand Total marks (where applicable) will be converted into percentage. In such cases 500 (five hundred) or 450 (four hundred fifty) (as the case may be) out of 1000 (one thousand) shall mean 50 percent or 45 percent respectively.
